Hello & Welcome to My Enlightened Delights!

My mission with this blog is to reflect on my journey to enlightenment:
expand my mindfulness; share my knowledge, some of my favorite recipes; 
and inspire others to do what makes them happy!

I am no way an expert but I have found that my passion for learning has inspired me to make
the most of this and every experience; so I hope you all enjoy it!!

The Mindful Diet Week 1: Build An Awareness Foundation

Day 1: Dedicate your intention

Science shows us that the first step to creating a new, lasting habit is to ask yourself this crucial question: What behavior do I want to create? Notice we didn’t say, “Launch a mass attack on everything I’d like to get rid of.” Rather, it’s about naming what you want more of in your life. Here’s how to start:

At the start of most yoga classes, the teacher suggests you offer up your practice to something bigger than yourself. Well, Scott Blossom, an Ayurvedic consultant, acupuncturist, and Shadow Yoga teacher in San Francisco, says that doing this when you’re trying to incorporate a new habit into your life is the ultimate key to being successful.

“When your goal is tied to something bigger than you—something that feels meaningful—it helps you remember what you’re trying to bring more of into your life,”
says Blossom.

Not sure where to start? Ask yourself a simple question:
What do I love most in life?

Then make your changes for that person or thing—
whether it’s your partner, your kids, a pet, or a happy you.

 


 

What do I love most in life? Happiness.
Each person has their own definition of happiness; for me this means balance & mindfulness (the behaviors I want to create). Prioritizing time for what is important to me: fitness & healthy meal planning; reading & crafting; learning new things; new/unique experiences; and spending time with my loved ones.

For this 10-week challenge, my intention is to plan ahead to ensure my priorities come first. I’ve always been super pro-active; but recently life has taken over, and I have found myself reacting to situations instead of being as prepared as I am used to. I have begun to establish a weekly routine, but for this Mindful Diet challenge my goals are to:

1.    Take the time out of my day, everyday, to make a game plan

2.    Track my Mindful Diet progress

3.    Daily Yoga & Meditation practice (40 day Meditation Challenge)

4.    Be active avg. 3-6x per week

5.    Home cook 75%+ of our meals

6.    Try at least one new recipe every week (blog)

7.    Read at least 4 hours per week

8.    Allow myself to be creative at least once a week

9.    Take time to learn (a) new language at least 2 hours per week

10.  To travel to at least one new location every year

 

In addition to this blog, I was inspired by Pinterest to use a smashbook style bullet journal to record my progress on The Mindful Diet, but you can use whatever feels right for you! 
I made copies of the original article and pasted them into the sketchbook I purchased for this project, making sure to leave space for memo's & doodles :)
