Last week I discovered a local event that combined 2 of my favorite things: Yoga & Medical Marijuana. Most people would be shocked by this combo because marijuana smokers are often viewed as lazy, while some yogis (and a majority of Buddhists) believe that marijuana interferes with their mindfulness. However, the wonderful worlds of marijuana and fitness come together more than you would think. I've done quite a bit of research on the positive effects of marijuana on fitness, and found so much information and people sharing the same message.
My sister and I attended the Yoga Sesh last week. The event began with a pre-yoga smoke sesh which had a few vendors providing samples of medicated beverages, a dab bar, and samples of vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO medicated snacks. At the specified time, we all proceeded into the "Yoga Studio" where goodie bags were waiting on our mats and joints were promptly lit up to be passed around the room. The goodie bags included a full sized bottle of Habit medicated sparkling juice; a Flavrx 50/50 CBD Chocolate bar; a 25mg sample of Pura Vida organic, gluten free, vegan snacks (sunny seeds); a Flavrx CBD balm; and a half gram of wax from the sponsor.
We worked through a basic, but energizing yoga flow which ended with Viparita Karani (legs up the wall pose), during which more joints were passed around the room, then a 10 minute Savasana (corpse pose).
This yoga event inspired me to explore more about Yoga, specifically poses & sequences that aid in digestive health, and the world of medicinal marijuana influenced yoga. I am looking forward to learning everything I can about these topics and my next Yoga Sesh.
